We had a good turn out of members, Wolf checked out the F7 locomtive and he sad its good to go for Saturday, Lonnie was fixing the white picket fence around the little yellow play house, Joann and Kelly where cleaning the depot and station getting ready for Saturday, Howie was trimming the plants and limbs back away from the tracks, Andy helped others with projects and was doing a bunch of small jobs, Tom cut the tree lime back from the new tunnel roof so Jef and Max can put the roof material on Andy set the ladder and pulled the downed limbs away, Dave replaced a bad coupler on the green riding car and replaced a missing bolt on one of the trucks on the yellow riding car. He then worked on one of the sprinkler heads in front of the caboose, Howie and Tom put 3 full size railroad ties agents the bottom outside of the new tunnel. Lonnie put one tie agents the bottom a few weeks back and it worked good at stopping the day light for comming in under the side wall. Tom planted a plant that Lonnie donated to the club just inside the sidewalk fence just past the members crossing and did some watering as a few plants looked dry so theres a few dip lines that need to be adjusted.

I got to the club after 9:30 and Wolf was already there working on a steam locomotive. I had stopped on the way to the club and got a couple bags of planting soil, some drip line parts, and of course 3 plants marked down to a buck each. I worked on the gardens on each side of the drive way entrance. Wolf told me he just got done plumbing all the boiler piping and water lines to the tender for his friend Ben V. Ben showed up after a bit and they did a presser test on the boiler and lines. Ben has off and on been building and collecting parts for his little engines American for several years. He still has a lot of detail work to do. Im sure in time he will have it finished and back out to test run. Andy and John showed up and they started working on several small jobs. Andy had a Scout and his dad come by and Andy was showing them different projects available around the grounds. In the process of looking things over they found that the fence by our Crenshaw gate had a big cut in it. The cut is big enough to walk through so Andy looked around and didn’t find any damage. Andy got some wire and least it back together but it probably needs to be replaced. I will email the park managers and let them know. Andy didn’t see any other cuts in the fence so that was odd. The person either had a key for the park side or jumped over a 6 foot fence to get into this area from the park. I had to leave at 12:00 but I talked with John before I left he was trimming the shrubs in front of the storage units. I asked him to trim a bush I plated a few mounts a go that was getting a little too big. ![]() Edited by tom d - Jul 24 2019 at 1:42pm |
