Comments: this car started off life as my neigbor's old water softener tank. it was right beside my driveway and I kept looking at it and one day it just hit me that it mite work to build a tank car. I went and got a HO model and compared the sizes and it was very close. next thing was a knock on her door and it was all mine.It did take a lot of time to wash out all the old salt and weld in where the old fittings were.you know the funny thing is I just started working on the sub frames when I ended up getting another similar tank from one of my job sites so now I have two, both or all steel and have working brake rigging on the lower part of the tank, its cool to pull on one of the rods and see all the rods move on the lower part of the car.these cars are a little on the heavy side but is fun to have them in your train

Very cool. Totally inspiring. That is such a great way to recycle.
