I'm am looking forward to having fun and playing trains this year. Last year, SCLS made some changes and as a group we are getting back to concentrating on what we are good at (Running Trains). This year, SCLS has the same board members as last. We worked well together as a team and I look forward more of the same this year. Hopefully, this year we can resolve some ongoing issues with the club's .org web site and the Facebook page. In the last few years we have had a few members that left the club come back and we have had a few new members join. This has really helped with running the railroad and hopefully this trend will continue. In the last two years the club has acquired two large 1.6 scale locomotives: the UP 1500 and the BNSF-9. We also built 9 new riding cars to help with the running of public ride trains. These new locomotives can easily pull six riding cars each which has proved to reduce the waiting times for the public. Andy Zander has had lot of success working with the Eagle Scouts on there projects and it shows as the club grounds are looking much nicer. There a several more Eagle Scout projects planned for the next year so remember to stop by for a train ride and check out the changes. For several years we have been replacing the wood ties on our railroad with plastic ties, this has been very time consuming and costly. I'm glad to report for the most part we have now replaced all the wood ties. This year we have several projects planned that should be fun to do and will improve the railroad for are members. If you have time please come out and join in. There is always a group of members at the club every Tuesday (weather permitting) and of course on the first Sunday and third Saturday of the month. Happy railroading in 2020, SCLS President Tom Downing |
