| If you are interested in ride on trains, gardening, landscaping, outdoor projects and activities please consider joining our group. It's very rewarding and is supporting a group that benefits the public. Personally I'm the guy that leads most of the track maintenance projects, it's something I injoy. Being outside in the park working on projects or helping with giving public train rides gives me a sense of accomplishment for the week. For many years my wife has not been involved with comming out to the train club. It has always been a Tom and the boy's family thing. I have invited her but she didn't have the time or interest. Well she decided to come out and help on our Halloween nighttime train rides it's our big event for the year and we always need a lot of help. She really enjoyed interacting with the public train riders. Now she has been consistently joining in helping with the station crew since that point. She ajusts her schedule so she can be at the public train rides. I did a order for new t-shirts for the club I asked if she could help with selling them, now she is the t-shirt selling lady it's her job and she loves it. I have see this same scenario play out with other members. one of the members recently told me his daughter asked him what he was doing for Easter. He responded I'm gonna go to give Train rides at the club. Her response was on Easter and then he responded to her. Yes, it's the best time. At this point you can probably tell where I'm going with this, just come out and give it a try. It doesn't work for everyone we have had many come and try it and say it's just not there thing. Some are looking for instant results and I will tell you it takes time to find a place where your comfortable in a group setting. It also Doesn't cost very much financially, which I think is a big concern as it should be with everybody. We have a very interesting mix of people in our group and it has become a big extended family. Personally I have learned a lot being a part of this group and I'm a better happier person because I joined, come give it a try, Tom |
